A while back, FOX News ran a story after police investigating a possible case of teens sexting in a school. The security guard at the school discovered the materials and alerted the police who swung into action. According to police, texts showing inappropriate images with each other have become more common in the Internet with the digital age.
The police said that they were interested in disrupting the sending of such inappropriate information and looking for evidence to prosecute. The guard said that that teens do not think of the consequences that come with engaging in such risky behavior.

The responsibility conscious mind develops last

According to Melanie Miller, who heads Wichita Children’s Home, the last part of the mind to develop in teens is the part that lets them to be aware of the future consequences of their action. She adds to say that this neither an information nor intelligence issue. Teens know the risk of sexting but they go on with the risky behavior.
The problem is not made any better by prosecution as the only people that are prosecuted are adults that are in possession of child pornography. The juveniles are rarely interdicted unless there is a criminal culpability. The police also adds to says that that it usually too late when they get involved and harm is always done.

 What can be done?

Parents are advised to talk with their kids on the dangers of sexting. Experts also advise parents to take advantage of apps that helps them track messages, picture sent, sites visited online. One of the most successful apps in this area is TeenSafe. It gives the parents ability to covertly a track all the above to take action before it is too late.
